About Chem Club

The University of Southern Maine’s Chemistry Club (USM Chem Club) is a student organization operating under the guidelines of the Student Government Association and is an officially recognized student chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Goals & Activities

We aim to expand our local community’s knowledge about science through fun, hands-on experiments and demonstrations. Past activities include:

  • Community Outreach: School demonstrations and the Halloween Fire Prevention Festival in Portland.
  • Professional Development: Fundraising to support students attending ACS National Conferences.
  • Social Connection: Acting as a social hub for like-minded students who love chemistry.
