Expanding our local community’s knowledge about science through fun, hands on experiments and demonstrations.
The University of Southern Maine’s Chemistry Club (USM Chem Club) is a student organization operating under the guidelines set by the Student Government Association. In addition, the USM Chem club is an officially recognized student chapter in the American Chemical Society (ACS). The goals of the USM Chem club include campus and community outreach, with past activities including school demonstrations, participation in the Halloween Fire Prevention Festival in Portland, and various on campus activities to promote chemistry. The Chem Club engages in fundraising ventures to support these activities, and also to support students in attending ACS National Conferences.
The other function of the USM Chem Club is to act as a social club for like minded students who love chemistry! If you are interested in hanging out with others who love chemistry, feel free to contact Seth Staples, Chem Club faculty advisor, at seth.staples@maine.edu.
