Free local bus transportation
Did you know that all University of Southern Maine (USM) students, faculty, and staff can get free local bus transportation on all three campuses?
Every full-time student enrolled in classes at USM can enjoy free rides to and from classes, study sessions, work, internships, sporting events, and more.
Let someone else do the driving, while you sit back and do your homework, keeping more money in your pocket.
Bus service options include:
- METRO Husky Line: If you’re traveling between the Portland and Gorham campuses you can ride the METRO Husky Line, part of the Greater Portland METRO bus service, using your USM Campus ID Card. Please note that Southern Maine Pathways Students (SMCC) cannot board the bus with their USM ID Card. They must use their SMCC card to ride.
- Lewiston-Auburn Citylink: Students, faculty, and staff at USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College (LAC) can travel for free between home, classes, work, and more using Lewiston-Auburn’s Citylink bus (also known as the Purple Bus) system. Passes can be picked up on the LAC campus.
Both buses offer bike-friendly transportation
Both the METRO Husky Line buses and Lewiston-Auburn’s Citylink bus buses are equipped with bicycle carrying racks, making it even easier to get out and explore the world outside your USM community.
Ride the bus and get rewarded
You can earn valuable reward points through GO MAINE, a program sponsored by the Maine DOT that promotes ridesharing efforts of commuters throughout Maine.
