University Health Services, as required by the Center for Disease Control, tracks communicable diseases that we test for in our office. UHS maintains open communication with the Maine CDC and updates their office with new confirmed positive cases in the student population. While outbreaks of communicable diseases are rare on campus, our team is prepared for them with policies in place to deal with many contingencies. The work done during the COVID-19 pandemic helped to solidify our dedication to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and broadened our ability to handle public health emergencies.

UHS did not offer asymptomatic COVID-19 testing during academic year 2022-2023 and will continue to not offer this type of testing for academic year 2023-2024. We will continue to offer symptomatic testing to students only and recommend that employees reach out to their primary care physician for testing options should they become ill. We also recommend that employees reach out to their supervisors and HR for guidance on missing work when faced with illness.
