Do you have a budding writer who cannot seem to put the pen down? Well, this camp is a perfect fit!
Our Young Authors Camps offer budding writers a chance to dive into their craft and become published authors! The mainstay of our camps is the full immersion of our campers in multiple genres of writing across the week’s time. We write inside, on playgrounds, along hiking trails, and all around the towns where they take place. The camps are a playful spin on writing as we move away from the more formal types of writing and instead move writers towards unique and fun writing experiences. Campers will write creatively every day, with some art thrown in, while being guided by experienced and passionate teachers that appreciate the importance of creating a safe and welcoming space that promotes creative risk taking and celebrates the unique writing abilities of campers. Does this sound like a nice fit for your writer? If so, check out the locations we have available this year and sign up!
Campers will:
- Explore different genres of writing that may include memoir, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, multi-genre, etc..
- Develop their writing with the help of experienced teachers/Southern Maine Writing Project teacher-consultants.
- Celebrate and share in a relaxed, non-competitive summer atmosphere.
- Become published authors by having some of their week’s work included in our anthology.
2026 Camps
We are looking forward to running our Young Authors Camps again in 2026.
All camps will run during the same week of June 22nd to June 27th.
There will be camps once again in Yarmouth, Gorham and now Mt. Vernon/Vienna, and we hope for other locations as well!
*Check the registration information to see the age range for each camp. They are similar, but not exactly the same.
