Use GI Bill® Funds for Classes

If you’re a veteran and have GI Bill® funds, you can absolutely use those funds to pay for any of our classes. We’ve worked with the Military Affiliated Student Hub (MASH, for short) to ensure this opportunity exists, and will remain in existence.

Helpful Info & Tips Before Starting the Process

  • You do NOT need to be an enrolled student in the University of Maine system in order to take our classes, earn our certificates or micro-credentials!
  • If you either don’t have or have used up all your benefits, we offer you a 20% discount off ALL our courses! (Email or call us for the discount code.)
  • Please have your Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for GI Bill funds at the ready.
  • If you don’t have have your COE immediately on hand, please reach out to MASH first for assistance at usm.veterans@maine.edu or call 207-780-4471.
  • Questions about what kind of funding you have? Click here: MASH’S GI Bill Guide and scroll down to “Chapters of the GI Bill”.

The Process, Step-by-Step

1.) Browse our course catalog and see if any of Professional Development Programs’ classes spark your interest.

2.) Once you have a class in mind, email the following to usmpdp@maine.edu:

  • Your first & last name
  • The email address you want to use moving forward
  • The course(s) you want to take
  • Attach a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility showing proof of GI Bill Funding

3.) We get in touch with MASH to verify the certificate and confirm benefits.

4.) Once we receive confirmation, we enroll you in the course!
