Public Safety offers trainings that cover Active Attackers, De-Escalation, and Stop the Bleed to the campus community. These trainings are designed to both inform and engage our community to help ensure the safety and security of all those who live, work, and visit campus.

Training Descriptions

In a world that seems increasingly less safe, Active Attacker Response training breaks down misconceptions while equipping you with strategies on how to respond if you think someone can become a threat to the community or there is an active threat to the community.

The Safety Walk-through is designed to provide the space to ask questions that are relevant to you and your space.

Active Attacker Response takes 60-90 minutes for small to medium size groups, with the Safety Walk-through taking an average of an additional 30 minutes. Walk-throughs can be scheduled separately; if you would like to schedule it separately, it is most beneficial to do the walk-through after the Active Attacker training.

The de-escalation training is customized to each group to help students, staff, and faculty navigate different situations that have the potential to escalate or have already started to escalate. The training covers topics from leading experts in de-escalation and negotiation that are useful in a variety of circumstances.

De-escalation training on average takes two 90-minute sessions.

A bleeding injury can happen anywhere.

By learning how to Stop the Bleed, you’ll gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding once you learn three quick techniques. When you take the Stop the Bleed training course you will become empowered to make a life-or-death difference when a bleeding emergency happens.

Stop the Bleed training is a hands-on training that takes 60-90 minutes for small to medium size groups.
